New Chapter
It has been a month now back on solid ground perhaps a little more - what a time. I have been really overcome by the reception received not to say a little flattered!
Last Friday I went to the Sportsman's Charity Dinner, a very poignant moment as it was at this dinner last year the plans to row were kind of officially announced to all and sundry. Now the job is done it seems strange that this time round it was not a year that separated the dinner but an ocean.
What next? Well, I am in the process of writing a book at the moment about the voyage - it should be out reasonably soon. If anyone would like a copy directly just drop me a line and I would be delighted to send you one - not sure what it will cost yet I guess that will be up to the publishers but it would be great to hear from you at any rate.
The bad news is that I have managed to put a stone in weight on since my return - Will have to do something about that before I return to my previous shape which was once described as hoover baggish ! Mr Pelling may have to come to the rescue again and put me through the mill until thinner!
Oh yes the other thing is that I am sticking together another expedition - one with a little less rowing this time - more on this soon. Provisional new date is winter 2007 but may well be brought forward if conditions and sponsors allow. If you are interested in sponsoring please email me and I will discuss the plans further with you. There are some fantastic opportunies and I am already very excited about this next project!!
Went to South Africa for a few days last week it was fabulous. Friends of ours (Andrew and the lovely Karen) were getting married out there. So it seemed like a good idea to go out and see them do it (the wedding that is!). Yvette, Harriet and I all went out and just had a ball ... the wedding was fab, Karen looked beautiful and well even from a blokes point of view Andrew looked 'no bad' ! Went on Safari over the next few days - it was good to catch up with some of the family ! We also played on Quad bikes - I'd forgotten how much darn fun these things are! Then it was back to the UK ... where Vets almost immeditaly secumed to some dreadful virus which I am doing battle with just know ... Still a drop of the Ardbeg should cure it !
Apologies for not updating the diary for a bit and I will have another update soon on news as it comes in ... I might even keep the diary going and describe my first fews days back at work - not for the faint hearted !! Gulp! I really look forward to sharing the next few weeks with you as it is going to be even better than the Atlantic Diaries !!
Hehe!
