The Route

Similar to the route taken by Columbus to the new world on his third voyage in 1498, Leven left from Puerta Sherry Marina, Cadiz in Spain on 14th August 2005.

His water-maker packed up on the fourth day out and he had to return to Rota and await a replacement. He then left Rota on 26th August and had the misfortune of the second water-maker packing up - forcing a stopover at Santa Cruz, Tenerife on 9th October.

On 14th November Leven set off for a third time and now will head across the Atlantic, arriving in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Leven is now making the most of the North Equatorial Current and the trade winds. The voyage might be in excess of 4,500 miles and could take up to 150 days.
